Instituto Biblico Robinson de Hatillo, Puerto Rico 1910 to 1915

Following is a quote from "La Conferencia​ Misionera De Puerto Rico" de la Iglesia Metodista Unida: 

"Merece que se amplié algo la contribución del Instituto Biblico Robinson de Hatillo, que el primer intento de ofrecer una educación teológica mas solida y organizada a los nuevos pastores puertoriqueños que iban surgiendo. Este instituto bíblico funciono dentro de la institución conocida en ingles como George O. Robinson Industrial Institute and Training School, el mismo fue fundado el 910 en el municipio de Hatillo."

The institute was an orphanage with the purpose of training boys to have a skill with which to find jobs. and by 1915 it was being used to train candidates for the ministry. The only name mencioned of a total of 51 students was José Espada Marrero."  

1. 1918 to 1920
Rev. Espada first assignment was to pastor the church at "barrio Playita" of Ponce and apparently also ministering at the Aguirre chapel were he met Josefina Orlandi-Questell. They were married in this chapel on October 22, 1918.
Rev. Espada and Josefina lived in Ponce on "calle Primera" as per census of 1920. 

2. 1921 to 1928

Rev. José Espada-Marrero served as missionary for the United Methodist Church in La Romana and San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.

3. 1928 to1934
Rev. Espada was assigned to pastor the Church in the city of Guayama, Puerto Rico. During his time in Guayama he increased attendance by developing Sunday School classes; for this he received recognition by the leadership of the United Methodist denomination.
