Espada Memorial Page

One logical reality shows up as a norm for the era that our ancestors lived and that is that more times than none they married some one from the same town or from boundary sharing towns. For example, Don Francisco Marcos Espada from Coamo married Maria Morales; she was probably from the town of Naranjito, a neighboring town of Barranquitas relatively close to Coamo. The reason why I can make such an assumption is because when doing the research of the family tree I noticed that certain surnames would show up in clusters in a particular town and almost always these very surnames would define a barrio in that town. In the case of Papillo, the Espada's are very prevelent in the barrio of "Helechal" Barranquitas and barrio "Pulgillas" in Coamo. These two barrios are in different towns but the barrios themselves are next to each other and between them is the bondary between Coamo and Barranquitas.

I'm Francisco Marcos Espada
Father of Luis Espada
Grand father of José Vicente Espada

In the church San Antonio de Padua, Barranquitas, baptismal records show that Francisco Espada is originaly from the town of Coamo.

I'm María Morales
Mother of Luis Espada
Grandmother of José Vicente Espada

Maria Morales only shows up in the certificates of baptism of Papillo and his siblings and upon reading the original document Francisco Marcos and Maria have already passed away.

I'm Luis Espada-Morales Father of José V. Espada From Coamo, P.R.

Very little is known about Luis Espada-Morales, father of our Papillo. All that I have been able to find is that his name appears in the baptismal certificates of Papillo and his siblings.

I'm María de los Santos Marrero Mother of José V. Espada
From Barranquitas, P.R.

Mama Santo is how Maria de los Santos was called by her children and grandchildren.
