Surname / Apellido: Questell
On Saturday March 3, 2012 I interviewed Don Edurado Questell Rodriguez. He had been researching his family tree for 10 years when I did the interview. The surname "Questell" is pronounced in french as "Ketel" in spite of how it is spelled here. Following is some of the information which he discovered of the Questell's.
The first Questell that came to the new world was Robert Questell. He traveled in 1636 from Normandy, France to the island of San Cristobal (Saint Christopher) also known as Saint Kitts. He came as an indentured servant, to pay off his debt until the age of 21, so he came as a teenager. Afterwards married and grew a family. Later his descendants migrated to the island of Saint Barts (Barthelemy). In 1828 Juan (Jean) Questell migrated to Patillas Puerto Rico and married Juana Feliciana Fonseca.
Don Eduardo Questell shared, that he visited the island of Guadalupe and found a historian that had built genealogical tree of the Questell's that populated the island of Saint Barts, a total of 300 families.
